Storm June 08

OK so we covered the chickens.... We had a huge storm roll through Mason County in June. We got 12 inches of rain in a very short period of time. There was 48 roads closed in the county and we were actually declared a disaster county. The slide show attached is pictures of our road right in front of our house near the driveway. We were only able to get in & out one way. Our road was actually closed for about a week.

The kids did have fun with all of the rain. The rain filled our pond up to the rim. The boys had a great idea to build a pontoon boat. Requirements: 2 seats and be able to hold a cooler. They were telling bumpa about it and he gave them some old inner tubes to help keep it a float. They had hours of fun!

The chicken's are growing fast

Well we are approximately 6 weeks into the chickens and all they do is eat & sleep. I found myself actually walking out of the house to the garage and saying good morning chickens. We were hoping to move the chicken's to a coop, but that was delayed.

Well the time has come to say good bye to the chickens. They have been part of the family for 7 weeks now. We were very fortunate that we did not lose any of the birds.

Chicken's grow fast

I can't believe how fast these chicken's grow. Collin & the boys made a pen for the chickens to move into as they out grew the holding tub fast. With this being the first time for us, we had not idea what to expect. The kids did a really good job making sure that they had food & water.

Additions to the family

Hi Everyone - It has been some time since I have updated this blog. The Thompson's have been having quite a summer so far. We decided this year to raise chickens. With the help of our friends the Johnson's and Mom/Dad, we got 25 chickens and raised them for 7 weeks. We should have kept them for another week, but we were going to be gone.
The chickens arrive.... via the mail. I don't know how Gena does it with all the chickens coming through the mail. They are very cute when they first arrive.....

Happy Holiday's

Well it's hard to believe that the Christmas season is upon us. The Thompson family traveled to Arkansas to spend Christmas with Collin's family.

To back up a couple months....as I have been a bad blogger.

The Thompson's have two new members to the family. We are the proud owner's of two beagles. Their names are Ace & Tippy. We got them on the first day of school. I can just hear all of you right now......why in the world did you get two puppies. Well, I have to say, that I really enjoy having them in the house during the day while I work.

The Thompson family started hockey season. Yes all four kids are playing hockey. It's very hectic, but lots of fun. Each of the kids are on different teams, with different schedules, with different games. Jake is a Bantam this year and his games are very exciting. Josh is a PeeWee and began to check this year. He is a great defenseman. Allison is a Squirt this year and is loving it. She can keep up with the boys on her team. Anna joined the ranks this year as a Mite. She has scored her first goal and an assist in the same game. That was a great moment for her. By the end of the season in March, we will see approximately 120 games with all of the kids. Some weekends, Collin & I see 8 games in 2-3 different cities - won't change it for anything.

Well we are on a break with hockey right now as we celebrate the Holiday season. We traveled to Arkansas to spend the holiday's with Collin's family. We had beautiful weather - 50 degrees and sunny. What a change from the Michigan weather that we left. The kids got to spend time with their Great Grandfather and cousins. And of course Grandma & PaPa spoiled the kids. We had a great Christmas. The Children's Service was beautiful. As the Pastor said, " we have some spirited children." The kids actually slept in on Christmas morning. They woke up at 8:30. Great Grandpa came over and watched the kids open their gifts. I think the highlight of the day besides the gifts was the fondue that we did. Kandy & I organized a cheese fondue which the kids did not care for, but the adults liked. We then moved to the main course where the kids were able to cook beef, chicken, shrimp and vegetables. The Finale was a chocolate/caramel fondue with fruits & brownies. I think the chocolate was the biggest hit.

We will be heading back to Michigan the day after Christmas where we will be spending the holiday's with the Dufon side.

Thompson's join the Blog

Hi everyone,

I have enjoyed reading everyone's blog so I decided that the Thompson family is going to join.
Being new to this, you'll probably see some mistakes...so oop's and it will get better.

The summer has gone by so fast. Here we are the middle of August and school will be starting in just two weeks.
The kids are doing great:

Anna Marie turned 7 this year and is very enjoyable.
She has been busy riding her bike and rollerblading.
She has been a big help in watering the flowers.Does anyone have any suggestions on how to get her to brush her hair.....
I am ready to have it cut off.

Allison will be 9 this year in December. What a great helper she is.
She has been busy rollerblading in the driveway.
She also learned to ride her bike with no hands.
She enjoyed the beach a lot this summer.

Joshua will turn 11 in just 2 days. He has been doing a lot of traveling this summer.
He went to Arkansas for two weeks to visit the Grandparents.
Then he stayed home, but was at Bumpa & Gigi's with his cousin Nathan - Bumpa set up a lawn mover tractor pull....watch out old engine club, you may have another member soon. Josh went to visit his cousins Mikalya & Maddy and had lots of fun with them.

Jake will be 13 in November and is looking forward to hunting season. He also joined his brother in Arkansas. He had a couple jobs this summer. He started out babysitting for Aunt Cole & Aunt Kath with Gigi, and then he assisted a family with lawn care & misc. items. He also went to visit his cousins Mikayla & Maddy for a few days.

They all played baseball/softball/t-ball this summer and that kept us busy....4 kids....4 schedules....1 mom with lots of snacks.

Our good friends that Contradi's were up this summer. It was great to see them. Jeff took the boys, our nephew, & Collin out fishing one night. The boys had a great time. I think Jeff has made them true fishermen as the stories are still getting bigger and bigger. Thanks Jeff for taking the boys fishing.

We have a new niece...her name is Natalie. We went to visit her and the family in Minnesota this summer. Even though the scenery is beautiful....taking the trip via the UP - Wisconsin route is very long. It was great to have the family together.
Kath & Kirk along with the kids made it in from Shanghai, China for the summer. It was great seeing them again and I know that Alli & Anna enjoyed playing with Elizabeth & Alex.
Nicole, Dale, and Olivia made it up this summer as well. We had a great time with them over the 4th of July. Too bad the fireworks got fogged out.
Collin & I are doing good. He is busy moving the field...we had a tractor breakdown, but it is now fixed. I have been busy with work. I got to travel to New Orleans in July, boy was it HOT down there. Other than that we have just been busy with the kids and work.
We got to enjoy the town of Fountain celebration with mom & dad being in the parade.
That really wraps up the summer.
Keep in touch!
